  • JJ Heffner

wow, that’s an awesome little contraption there. hopefully it works well. another great vid topic.

  • Estee

This looks like such a great idea, it’ll be great in the kitchen with plants like sage, basil, mint… Yumm…

  • http://twitter.com/LorraineD1963 Lorraine Moore

I’ve started herbs under grow light. What great new “digs” for Them!

  • anotherkindofdrew

I should win this. I am at the place in life where for a year or so I need a compact herb growing container. I would love to hook up with this after witnessing the success of your mushroom container.

  • vegasrob

This is a perfect planter for growing strawberries. Because it’s mobile you can regulate the amount of sun exposure as needed. Mmmmmm, strawberries.

  • Jes_divine

That’s a pretty neat herb planter. I’d probably situate that on the back porch of my house as the kitchen currently isn’t providing enough light for what I have growing (chia brand planters from my MIL for xmas…I’m probably the only person who fails at chia growing haha!)
    Jes

  • http://mamabuglover.blogspot.com MamaBee

Ooh, neat! I’d love to set up an herb garden in there, with basil, oregano, basil, chives, basil, cilantro, basil… see a theme? Tons of basil, fo’ sho’. And the mobility of this beauty would be great, as we’re in a rental house and the landlady is very particular about her yard. Thanks for this offer!

  • Josh

That planter would be perfect for my small apartment. I’d definitely use it to grow some herbs, and maybe a few strawberries. I believe I’d have to build out my windowsill just a touch.

  • Bendsley

Recently found your blog and being that I’m a New Yorker, I am finding it ever so useful. Thanks for all the tips and the videos. My neighbors and I are planning to make a bunch of self watering containers and reclaim the overgrown back yard this Spring as a useable area. I would probably use the stack and grow planter to get seedling started before transplanting them into the containers. Like all Urban gardeners, it would be the piéce de résistance on the fire escape!

  • Bendsley

Forgot to say what I’d be growing in the planters… we’d definitely be using it for herbs. We’re avid cookers and eat vegetarian and mostly vegan, so eating what we grow is a dream. And if you can really grow strawberries in this, we’re all over that!

  • PManon

AWESOME! This would definitely be used for teaching my son, and myself, how to start planting! I know nothing about planting and growing, but I have a passion for good, clean food! I would put this in my little courtyard. The ground is all brick, no dirt. Would be the perfect spot for it = ) Thanks so much!

  • http://www.jdblundell.com jdblundell

Very cool setup. I’m hoping to get some vegetables and other edibles growing at our new home this year. It’d be great to get started with something like this.

  • http://www.growgreatvegetables.com Lhspirited

I would put flowers in it. I have an herb garden and my herbs grow huge, much too large for this thing.

  • Vkbook

    Hi,
You have a fantastic and informative website. I used your instruction to build two bucket self watering container. I just started my garden last week. Have planted bush beans, and squash so far. Thanks for your blogs.

    Vani

  • Cortesi29

    Hello!!
I really like your website.I just started my own balcony garden.thankyou.

  • WebGoonie

With the benefit of the wheels, I think I would put this both outside and in.

  • WebGoonie

    I would plant lettuces.

  • Ancient Scrape

Hello I would plant herbs such as basil, rosemary, dill, italian parsley…basically any herbs I can get my hands on. I would keep it on my small balcony or if it got too hot probably have to bring it inside sometimes.

  • Tlwilliamson2007

Well, I would put it on my carport area and would plant all sorts of basil, chives and most likely get some other kinds of seedlings started there! Whatever the six year old at my house might fancy! Looks like a cool contraption and quite the space saver!

  • http://twitter.com/YourOrganicLife Danika Carter

This looks great! I would probably have to plant flowers since it’s too big to bring inside during cold Colorado Winters.

  • Feathermoon

This is too, cool! I’d grow strawberries and herbs. Thanks, for sharing. :-)

  • http://twitter.com/YourOrganicLife Danika Carter

I think my 4yo would love planting in this too since it’s right at her eye level

  • http://twitter.com/SunshineBoat Sunshine Boatright

Hey Mike, it’s Sunshine! :) Never saw one of those before! It looks perfect. :) I would put it on the back patio and grow strawberries, basil, thyme, stevia, edible flowers (have to look up which ones would be edible), parsley, kale. That would be just beyond awesome. The back patio has sun and shade (thanks to the grape vines), so I could wheel it back and forth as needed. :) Supercool! :)

  • http://twitter.com/YourOrganicLife Danika Carter

This is so compact, I wonder if I could build a small green house-style structure to go over it so I could use it in the snow? Hmmm…my wheels are turning. Then maybe I could grow my herbs or lettuces outside all year.

  • Saundrakirkpatrick

that thing looks cool! as i have two little strawberry addicts i would grow strawberries, and mint and oregano and chives in it. mainly strawberries though they are getting really expensive and i can’t find any organic ones where i live in oklahoma so i’ve had to cut back on their favorite fruit :( but would definately love to win and try this out. especially since it’s portable and we might have to move soon due to unfortunate circumstances.

  • Davey Creates

i would grow some healing and tasty herbs in this thing :)

  • Saundrakirkpatrick

forgot to put where i would put it lol i would put it at the edge of my front sidewalk where my yard gets a good moderate amount of light. that or else in the area i plan on fencing off and making into a garden on the side of my house.

  • Cmadisonster

I like this especially because I grow herbs on my balcony and it would look so useful, compact and cute. I know all my friends would love it too! And my 5 yr old grandson would enjoy helping with it! Thanks!

  • Shari

This would really rock for the winter! Lettuce,herbs-Thia basil, parsley, oregano, orange thyme, french thyme, cilantro for certain. I’d probably put flowers and herbs that I could overwinter in it for the summer :)

  • Srystr77

I would use this in my front yard and I would plant, basil, chammomile, chives, oregano, dill, and thyme. Thanks!!1

  • Actionwoman

Hi, I would grow mint and as many different types of lettuce as possible and some flowers to attract bees and butterflies. By the way I’m from the UK, would you post it here?

  • Hb_kitmitto

I would love to win this. It would be perfect! Thanks so much for the contest!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=532440603 Shari Lichtenberg

I would keep this on my porch in the summer and in my kitchen in the winter. I would grow herbs and lettuces in it. Thyme(s), basil(s), Oregano(s) parsley, chives. I have seen these before at a garden center :)

  • Hb_kitmitto

Woops! Forgot to say what I would grow in it. We just moved into a rental so I would love to put strawberries and different herbs in there. I bet the kids would get a huge kick out of it too!

  • http://www.humbleneighborhood.com Maia Lagerstedt

Wow. That looks really cool. I love that it’s on wheels because I’m always having to move my plants around to catch the sun. I would grow the herbs I use the most for cooking: basil, cilantro, mint, oregano, parsely, thyme and dill. And maybe some edible flowers…nasturtium, marigold. This would be an awesome addition to the kale and lettuces I grow in containers!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=614175178 Amanda Howe

The question what wouldn’t I grow in that thing? Well, anything with a vast root system. But I’m thinking bunching onions, strawberries, some edible flowers (Violets, pansies, calendula), and tea herbs (Lemon balm, Anise, Angelika, chamomile, Lemon verbena)….how many plants is that?!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=614175178 Amanda Howe

  • jayedee

wow! i grow alot of herbs, so it’s hard to pin me down about what i’d grow in it but for sure my choices would include chives, basil and oregano. i’d put it right outside of my kitchen door so i could snip as i needed!

  • Dawnkelly

Love this! Checked it out and you can stack two together– which I would def do. Herbs, baby lettuces and edible flowers for a start! This baby would be rolling from one end of my porch to the other and right into my bay window for the winter.

  • Heather

Does it come with someone to water it too? ;) I would put it right outside my kitchen door on my deck which gets GREAT full sun all day. I would probably have to consult the Urban Organic Gardener as to which herbs to grow since my gardening guru mother is now tending her beautiful garden eternally over the rainbow bridge :( But definitely basil and cilantro.

  • Loubna Zahri

that will be awesome to embark on my first experience at gardening….I want to start my herb Garden so bad….

  • Shanika

Lovin it!!! I would grow strawberries, cilantro, basil, sweet mint, spearmint and oregano in it. I would put it right outside my door…unfortunately don’t have much of a yard.

  • http://www.deliciousobsessions.com Jessica @ Delicious Obsessions

This looks cool! Since my backyard is teeny tiny, I’m always trying to figure out new ways to expand my growing area. I wanted to try growing some strawberries this year, so I’d use it either for that or for herbs. If I use it for herbs, that opens up space in my garden for other things. Thanks for running this contest Mike! :)

  • Mandy

So very cool! I would put salad greens in it. Here in Missouri, I can get them started this time of year inside and in a few weeks they can hold up outside (bringing them in if frost is coming). I also have some in my mini-greenhouse, but with our weather we could still get a foot of snow or my greenhouse could end up “cooking” them one day.

LOVE salad greens this time of year bc they are the first thing I can coaks out of my garden. you know that feeling you get when you find a perfect pair of shoes that you love, the only pair that’s left is your size and they are marked off 90%! Yeah, that’s how I feel when I eat my first spring salad!

  • Debbah94

This is very cool. I would like to do some lettuces and herbs. Oregano, chives, parsley n such also a few different lettuces. I could so put that in a bay window in the kitchen to grow and would love to use it inside.

  • Julie Wright

Looks very cool!! You always find great stuff!

  • Anonymous

Would definitely like to try it out. I would probably use my window sill at work which gets the most sun. I’d probably plant a lot of basil. Love that stuff.

    Count me in =)

  • Chickenbonewatt

Looks pretty sweet. I do believe it would look even sweeter in front of my house next to my lemon balm, mint, rosemary and parsley plants!! While I am trying to get all my veggies and some berries and fruits growing, the herbs are definitely my favorite part of gardening.

  • BrownSkinLady22

I would love to plant more herb if I had this planter. I’ve been waqnting to plant some lavender lately also…I love the way it smells!

  • Terry(1978graham)

i would put it next to my raised beds, grow a ton load of strawberries! I would try to fill that bottom tray with water and dare the slugs to try to get a bite of my berries!

  • Gabrieljmata

I want one of these to grow radishes, It would be perfect!

  • Rick F

This would look good in the sunroom to grow basil and some chives. I think you could also use it to start a few garden plants also.

  • http://nycgardening.blogspot.com Meemsnyc

This looks like an excellent container to grow strawberries in!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OSBF6C5OEBER5QFAUU7VC2J25Y Christine

I would plant tomatoes on the top, spinach and lettuces on the bottom, then thyme, basil, chives, and lavender in the middle layers!!

  • Laurasublime

mint on the top center, flowers around and in 2nd level, cat grass on 3rd level and bottom. Thanks Mike!!!!!

  • Allison

This thing looks awesome. I would plant lots of lavender (for this year’s holiday gifts: homemade lavender rice pillows as relaxing heat compresses once nuked or heated in a warm oven).

  • Paula

Im not sure what I will plant if I actually won. Maybe strawberries, lettuce, mint, basil, chives. and some flowers. Good Luck Everyone.

  • Allison

I would also plant other herbs: thyme, basil, cilantro, lots of parsley, chives, hyssop, lemon balm, and salad burnet.

  • Allison

Oh, and greens: spinach, romaine, wheatgrass, and leaf lettuce would do well in that container.

  • Wishforsmiles333

Strawberries! How fantastic it would be to have strawberries growing on my kitchen table in front of the windowsill!

  • Aprilconnett

    This is really interesting.

  • Martin

    This is really cool!

  • Jana

    Marigolds. Pretty and edible.
Dandelions. Partly to make people stare, and partly because I like the leaves in salads. And blowing the seeds is fun! (I have a dandelion wine recipe someplace, too, but I doubt I’ll ever make it.)
Leaf lettuce, so I have something to go with the dandelion leaves.
Chives, thyme, and basil of some sort, so my other dishes have a little dash of flavor.
And possibly an airplane plant (aka spider plant) just because I like them.

As to where I’d put it… I think the patio would work out best.

  • http://www.vagary-art.com Cheryl

I’d give it to my grandma. I just came to visit her in Puerto Rico (yes it’s part of the US) and brought her a ton of seeds for salad greens, heirloom tomatoes and herbs like cilantro. I’ve been wanting to get her some kind of planter I can set at waist level for her (she had a heart attack in November and cant bend over to tend to her beloved garden). I planned to make her a hanging garden but this looks like a really cool alternative! I hope you pick her :)

  • malo

hi Mike i would love to plant different flowers n put it infront of my house . thnks MIke i love ur videos and site and ur really handsome :)

  • Diana

Nice vertical design! I would make that planter into a cutting salad garden. in the center top I would put some Peach Melba Nasturtium for beauty & the peppery Nasturtium flower flavor. In the corners all the way down I would alternate Little Gem Baby Romaine & Baby Leaf Salad Mixture. I would place for color and taste a few Purple Sweet Basil plants and add in a few Rustic Arugula for that Rich Nutty Flavor. I would keep this near my kitchen door for easy clipping access. Thanks Mike for the demo of such a clever space saving planter!

  • Debbie

that is really nice.looks great for a deck

  • Anne-marie T

I would put it on the back porch and would plant some herbs like parsley, chives and mint, some flowers, and maybe some strawberries

  • http://www.facebook.com/ASFx2600 Jason Tucker

I love things like this. Very nice use of space. If i won, i’d stick it in my back yard near my raised beds, and throw in a nice mix of herbs and maybe even some strawberries.

  • Anny Tessier

Hello I love your garden tips… and my stack and grow would be installed on my mini deck of my condo. I” grow some herbs and fresh lettuce.

  • kip

I bought a townhome and the patio is north facing with fencing so it gets no light. I would put this in the southfacing bay window as a functional conversation piece. It is clean and has good lines – it can be an indoor planter that isn’t a sore to the eyes.

  • Elizabeth B.

I would put between my driveway and the carport entrance to my house, where I would pass by the planter multiples times a day. Definitely for herbs — cilantro, basil, maybe some mint.

  • http://glueandglitter.com Becky Striepe

This looks awesome, Mike! I’ve been wanting to give growing my own food another go, and this might be a nice way to ease back into it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/thisismichaelnolan Michael Nolan ༀ

I would put a steering wheel and a seat on it and ride it around the neighborhood.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1071766784 Jenny Nybro Peterson

Hey Mike! This looks like a great system–I’d definitely put it on my balcony and would probably grow smaller herbs in it like thyme and chives.

  • Carolann

    Hey Mike!

This planter is great. I would place it out on my deck and plant strawberries in it, so they could hang down off the edge and be able to grow without getting soft and moldy like berries do when they touch soil. I would throw in some mint along the top and some lavender to keep the deer away.

    Great contest.

    Carolann

  • Cat C.

This planter looks amazing! I would love one for my patio to grow all my medicinal herbs in. Although the strawberry idea is very intriguing.

  • Kelli

love your blog, so glad i’ve found it. these look awesome!

  • http://twitter.com/GreenSoil Manure Tea Gardening

Hi Mike I can see you growing into the fresh herb business and supplying Chef’s in your area with a balcony lined with those space saving Mobile Herb Gardens. Great share for those growing in smaller spaces Annie

  • jennifer

Mike, I like the look of the planter! I would be in herb heaven! What a great product.

  • http://www.modburyfarms.com Jaime Willmann

If I had the stack and grow, I would put it on my front porch. There I would grow kitchen herbs in it and I would easily be able to cut fresh herbs when I cook! Neat idea!

  • Kara

Oh I am in love with this planter! It would be perfect for growing herbs on my deck. I would plant basil, oregano, cilantro and thyme. And maybe throw a little dill in one of the lower pots. All the neccessary herbs for fabulous spring and summer eating!

  • http://cbmvwag.blogspot.com Cinj

That looks super cool. My yard is so planted with things I am running out of room for everything. I would plant it full of herbs and keep it in the corner of my sunny deck, though I could also stand a place to put some more strawberries. Hmm…

  • melinda s

Definetly herbs, strawberries, baby lettuces and other small greens. Perhaps mint if I could ensure it wouldn’t travel to the other compartments. What I love about this garden is the easy maintenance and ability to move the garden as needed.

  • Debbie

This is a great pot idea! Herbs would be great as well as strawberries. Flowers would look great too with all the levels.

  • http://twitter.com/greenearthbazar Michelle A.

What a great planter for those short on space! I would love to plant herbs in one and place it on the side of my house – not too much sun, nor too much shade. Very cool idea. ;)

  • Aparna

I have been eyeing these planters for a long while. Would love to have one.

  • Chefman2000

Hey Mike that stackable planter would be great on my organic vegetable balcony garden!!!!

  • http://twitter.com/SonyaJMills Sonya J Mills

I’d love to place this in the center of my raised bed garden and fill it with lettuce varieties & edible flowers.

  • http://twitter.com/DirtandMartinis Nicky

I’d put this on a table in my garden as a centerpiece and plant herbs with an Italian theme. Basil, oregano, thyme…

  • Becca

I’d put it in our yoga studio (which is really the extra bedroom) because it has a south facing window and gets the most sun in the winter. Plus, it won’t hurt to have the extra oxygen from our herbs in our studio! Oh, and dill would probably be my #1 herb, then basil.

  • Jeri

I would love to have one for my strawberries. They need a new home; they are in a cramped space where they are. ~Jeri

  • Naomi Williamson

Sanctuary’s Patio! The front corner right in the sun! You could help me quadruple the herbs I grow for Chef & lots of people would see it and ask where to get one for themselves!! Naomi

  • http://twitter.com/Karen_Dotson Karen Dotson

Oh wow! I love that planter! I ordered a kitchen herb seed kit, but I don’t have planters for them when it’s time to transplant the herbs.

  • Derwanna

Living in Pittsburgh, I am always looking for ways to add more gardening space. I can see oregano and thyme cascading down the sides, with rosemary and basil on top. This would look nice on my front stoop!

  • JJ Heffner

i would definitely grow parsley, cilantro and a lettuce of some kind…or maybe spinach. idk, so many possibilities.

  • Stefaniep47

That would definitely fit on my apartment balcony. I’d love to grow herbs and some other kinds of vegetables.

  • Alicia

Way cool idea. My patio is littered with random herb pots and it seems like there’s never enough room for them all.

  • Anonymous

Oh this would be awesome for all the new herb seeds I got for this year! Especially the borage, I’m dying to try borage :) I my backyard container garden of course!

  • http://littlemisssarcasm.wordpress.com/ LittleMissSarcasm

My fiance is the green thumb around the house and he has recently gotten me into the idea of expanding our flat roof into a garden. Currently we grow herbs (basil, dill, cilantro, rosemary) in pots all over the apartment. This would be a great addition to either our kitchen or roof.

  • Dave L

Perfect compact garden for a condo dweller such as myself. A useful addition to my already small containter garden. With such a relatively enormous amount of room the compact garden provides I’d enlarge my onion, herb, and small edible flower assortment. Thank you for the contest!

  • BeachMntGirl

I would use it for annuals … Combo of million bells, wave petunias, spike, lantana…. Or it wld be great for hens & chicks to spread. Love love love them!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cynthia-Borbon/542483070 Cynthia Borbon

My father in law is definitely the gardener in our family he would love this so much!

  • Rootsandwingsco

What a fun contest! Some of my herbs did amazing last year, and my strawberries finally rocked (never had luck with them before last year)! I need to add more herbs to my garden and this would be perfect. I rent a home so my garden is mostly pots and this would fit in perfectly!

Thanks for the opportunity to win this!
    Rebecca

  • Sarah D

This looks so cool! I could definitely put this to use. :-)

  • Alysha P Hall

Hey Mike! I came across your website after reading your profile in I Garden: Urban Style. Since then I’ve subscribed to your YouTube channel and read your blog religiously. I’m trying to revamp my whole approach to food and the environment and figured getting my hands dirty was a great way to start.

I’m a total novice gardener and really find all of your tips and tricks helpful! I’m gonna try and do my Brooklyn fire escape justice this spring by making what I’ve termed a salsa garden (I love fresh salsa!). I hope to use the Stack and Grow to plant mini onions, garlic, and cilantro. I’m also gonna try my hand at some wheat grass, for catnip and drinks, lettuce for fresh salads, and sage to hopefully attract some butterflies (I’ve done my research LOL)!

Here’s hoping you think my aspirations are as cool as I do!

Alysha– Brooklyn’s newest advocate for organic gardening and traceability!

  • Lauren

I would grow lots of cilantro, and basil, and hopefully have better luck with lemon balm!

  • http://twitter.com/MARK_ITIS Mark Itis

i would grow parsley, cilantro, mint, and more mint!

  • http://twitter.com/MARK_ITIS Mark Itis

i would plant cilantro, parsley, mint and more mint!

  • Anonymous

OMG. OMG. OMG. I need this!

It moves right?… Where would I put it?… Everywhere!

I would start it inside in my indoor garden space. When it warms up I will roll it onto my patio, Then when summer comes, like all my pots… its to the garden you go.

I want it! I need it! I would plant herbs(my fav)!

  • Kylie

This is an Amazing Concept!! I can find at least a million applications here at my house.. I have to say this would be the perfect for my Mom! She has limited space and limited mobility but loves to garden.. This covers it all.. Genius!!!

    Kylie

  • Richard the brewer

I like this layout. I have made several of the self watering buckets but this is unique. what a great Idea. I am thinking of growing some plants at work on the back porch. we all take breaks out there this would be brilliant for some flowers or even strawberries.

  • Julie Andrews

I LOVE how compact this is! We live in a small-ish apartment in Idaho (which is way too cold to leave things outside in the winter time). I’d love to get an herb garden growing in the kitchen (or maybe the living room, the lighting’s better there). We’d move the planters outside during the warmer months of the year.

  • Lmarie

This is super cute! Great giveaway!

  • Lmarie

whoops forgot to write where I would put this and what I would grow. I would place this stack and grow on my steps leading to my backyard, the sunlight is really good back there. I would like to grow basil, cilantro, rosemary, can nettle grow in my region lol? I would get really creative.

  • Krgfrog

I would most likely grow herbs in it and put it on my deck. I would have to figure out some sort of cage to keep the squirrels out. On second thought, maybe I would put it in my guestroom/garden room. It has wheels. I could experiment!

  • Nfireflies

What a wonderful opportunity! Thank you so much!

  • Nfireflies

I would definitely grow herbs here! It would have an awesome home (and be a lovely centerpiece!) for my patio table. Thanks again!

  • http://twitter.com/composting CompostMania.com

Did you put soil in the middle section of ONLY the top bin or do you have to do that far all bins?

  • http://twitter.com/tammycurry Tammy Curry

That would be perfect on my back porch. It would be right by the kitchen so I could grab what I need when I am cooking. Winter time I could have my arm twisted to force me to bring it indoors into the dining area so that I can continue to snag just what I need when I need it. Herbs all the way in that one, possibly pick up a second one and create a matching “topiary” of herbs. Then again not really a topiary, maybe herb towers. Twin herb towers! They don’t have to match exactly could do one with culinary herbs and one with medicinal or alternate with a variety of regional selection, ie. Italian, French Provincial, etc. So many things could be done with those. Loving it!

  • @ToxinFree Sandy

I would definately grow basil, rosemary, cilantro, & maybe try some woodland strawberries and I am going to try basically any types of organic heirloom seeds I can find. I am just learning about indoor and container gardening so I really have no set limits or boundaries. We are working on a windowfarm for our little apt. too. I would move the stack and grow from my sliding glass window to my tiny outdoor patio when weather is nice and I am home-there is no enclosure to keep neighbors animals from playing with my produce. Thank you for offering such a fun gift!

  • Pendulum

We’re new to the idea of organaic urban gardening and this planter would be a very cool way to get started.

  • http://www.heatherlives.wordpress.com Heather Weaver

I would love to grow fresh basil, a favorite for cooking with. It would be perfect in my new grad student apartment next year!

  • Ailanna

I’ve just started growing stuff on the windowsill of my large south-facing windows (I have no outdoor space) and am working up the courage to try to grow strawberries indoors.

  • http://www.heatherlives.wordpress.com Heather Weaver

I would also love to grow oregano! And whatever other herbs strike my fancy. It would be perfect in my new grad student apartment next year!

  • http://www.heatherlives.wordpress.com Heather Weaver

Rosemary, and strawberry, it would be perfect in my new grad student apartment next year!

  • http://twitter.com/Karen_Dotson Karen Dotson

I would still love the Stack and Grow planter for my twelve herbs. I don’t have the planters yet to transplant them when they are ready. I would also grow lettuce in the top middle planter. Thanks for the opportunity to win! I truly appreciate all the hard work you do to help educate us in portable container gardening! :-)

  • Prncsdi81

Hubby wants a green house, here’s the start of one!

  • Imblessed1011

As a new grow your own food attempt on my balcony this year. I would use this planter to grow herbs that I started this year needing a container to plant out there when warmer weather arrives. I would bring indoors during our harsh Minnesota winter. I would grow basil, chives, lettuce, cilantro, thyme, rosmary, stevia, and some flowers.
I love the wheels part to move it as having a back several back injuries wheels for everything is needed.
Just found your blog and love all the new info to learn from.
    Thank You

We just moved and we have a little, itsy-bitsy balcony. I would LOVE to win this and start our first garden in our new home. I would grow lettuce, strawberries, and let my girls pick out the rest. Thank you for the chance!

I think this is neat. I could keep it in back and move it to stay in the sun. I have a feeling I’d plant strawberries in it rather than herbs, because I have a patch of ground reserved for starting an herb garden this year. There never seems to be enough room for strawberries though. Maybe I could keep the critters out of this with a cage.

Nice Mike! I like that – it’s something I actually think I could use and maybe get the kids to have fun with too. We’d definitely do some chives. Strawberries for sure (as my son dumped the last two batches out so he could plant his raisins). Rosemary, basil, green onions and I’d love to grow some lettuce. Looks perfect for our patio! :)

Ooh, this is really cool! I’d love to have this on my patio – you could really pack a nice variety of herbs into this one container.

  • Holly Kamal

This would be perfect for my 7 year old daughter to have her own garden.I imagine that she would plant mostly flowers in it.

  • http://www.jennahsgarden.com Jennah’s Garden

I’ve seen these before and think they’re awesome! I’d use it on my deck, so I can move it around easily. I currently have a big terracotta pot for herbs there, but it can’t fit quite as many varieties and it’s not at all easy to move. It seems like it’d also be good for keeping the roots semi-small, so I can easily pot up varieties I want to overwinter inside without having to wrestle apart several different kinds of roots from each other and chop them down.

  • Little Miss Sunshine

I would love this! My current apartment has a 3×5 space between the sidewalk that I fill with veggies, but it’s never enough for me. I’d fill that up with spinach, lettuce, strawberries and herbs. Ooh, and I could move it to a shadier spot when the summer heat hits, and maybe the greens would last longer.

  • Minnahkim

this would be PERFECT for my bk fire escape.
id definitely try for some strawberries and some chives, oregano, and wildflower. thanks for having this contest!

  • Chefman2000

Great contest. I would put this out on my organic balcony garden plant some herbs and lettuce

  • http://livlifetoo.blogspot.com/ Kim – Liv Life

I would love one of these!!! How about a personal herb garden right within reach of the back door? Basil, thyme, rosemary and mint to start. Last time I planted mint in the garden it took over and I had it everywhere for years! Hmmmm.. then a few marigolds to keep the bugs away and some chives. Love the little stacker!!

  • Iris

This looks perfect for the sunny corner spot on my front stoop where I could fill it with lettuces, radishes and mesclun greens. Thanks for the review… pretty neat.

  • Colleen

I grow lots of herbs and veggies on my front porch, and this would be awesome to put up there. I’m thinking either herbs or strawberries would be perfect in it. Maybe both.

  • http://www.twoveganboys.wordpress.com Krys

Since we are vegan and I cook ALL the time, we rarely dine out, maybe twice a year. This would be ideal for us. I would use it to grow three different types of basil, fresh dill, oregano, thyme, sage, and some lovely parsley and cilantro.

  • Pat Boardman

The Stack and Grow would work perfect in my kitchen. It would be awesome to be able to pick fresh herbs right in my kitchen!

  • Bonnie Day

Oh I love this hard to decide between herbs or pretty little annuels

  • Bethbot52

Ahh! This thing is too cool. I would love to put it on our little 4 foot x 4 foot balcony. I would grow basil, mint, dill, parsley…all the stuff that’s good to cook with and too expensive to buy fresh!

  • Phant6

This planter would be perfect sitting in my sunny bay window. I would plant herbs, lettuce and in the center maybe a dwarf lemon tree! Do you think this planter would be good for succulents?? I think they would look great!

  • http://twitter.com/pulpologist Sonia Zamborsky

I almost got one of these for a family member (Christmas present) but decided I shouldn’t give them something I actually wanted myself. ;) I’d put this on my deck right outside the kitchen, to always have fresh herbs close at hand!

  • Everjanet516

I haven’t seen one before, it’s too cool.

  • Jahdai@Mac.com

I would use thus alongside my indoor sprout garden and house plant racks. Would be a great addition to my indoor kitchen garden! The wheels make this thing awesome, bring that I would need to move it around. If I do win, I just might buy another one. Herbs and plants for life!

Thought of a couple others I would plant besides the other goodies I already posted, chives & dill. :) And ever since I’ve posted I’ve been dreaming of how much fun it would be to go out to the patio, pick what I need, and then go back to the kitchen and play. :D

  • Sue Bush

I NEED this little gem! I would put it in ‘Pride Of Place’ in my South window and grow medicinal herbs.

  • http://twitter.com/ecokatLA Kathleen Sanchez

This is a perfect learning tool for our after-school students.I would donate it to one of our many after-school sites and coordinate with them to grow some herbs, like parsley, mint, lemon balm, marjoram, broccoli sprouts, and maybe some sweet alyssum too :)

  • Chefman2000

What a great planter and a great design. Cant wait to try it out on my balcony!

  • http://twitter.com/YourOrganicLife Danika Carter

I’ve been thinking about this ever since you first posted it. Keep coming up with all kinds of different ideas about what I would plant. Herbs, lettuces, maybe some pink lady blueberries….so many possibilities.

  • http://betanisbureau.com Betani

I’d love to try one of these on my balcony. It looks like it would fit well on the landing of the staircase that leads to the ground. I’m thinking salad greens rather than herbs, though.

  • bre1313

Looks like a very interesting set up.

  • Anonymous

Love this! I have a small courtyard (which sounds fancier than it is) off my kitchen and have a Pergola over it so perfect for this and I just bought a new cookbook too so I would be set!

  • http://guitarlessonswylietexas.com SteveH

Boom. I’ll take that. Put it on my back porch. Maybe some oregano, dill, and few others…

  • Mandy

Being new to the urban organic gardening scene, this stackable unit looks like a great way to get my feet wet. I like that it has a saucer, fewer worries of dirty water running onto the balcony below mine. Also, it’s small size means I could easily bring it in for the winter and continue to grow herbs and lettuce through the winter.

  • Familylivingsimple

Sweet contest. We are going to be moving, so I have to start over with the whole gardening thing. The worse part is the yard will be tiny. This looks like a great product I could use. I have never container gardened before.

  • Gameplayers2001

That is really cool, The Stack and Grow Herbs planter. I would love to grow anything in it. basel, chives, parsly, tyme,. This would give me a great start to my project on growing herbs with my Granddaughter who just turned two. Congrats to who ever wins this it looks like a great product.

  • Lovebug

OMG, I’ve been wanting to try one of these! I’d plant everything and anything in that! Lettuce, herbs, you name it! Please pick me! I hope it doesn’t sound too needy, but I need that! :-P <3 Keep up that great work!

  • GardenerVirgin

I would put the Stack and Grow on my back L-shaped porch. I would plant Cilantro, Chives, Sweet Basil, Spearmint, Oregano and perhaprs try the Strawberries! I would LOVE to win this because you made it look so easy to assemble & use (esp. 4 beginners) ^_^

  • Chefman2000

I would plant cilantro and basil in the container do leaf lettuce and even plant a tomato plant in the middle!

  • Norix

Amazing… is like a fresh spice rack. I like it!

  • Yfranklin

This would be so awesome for our Early Head Start program classroom…an introduction to our little ones on how food is grown and then it comes to our plates.

  • sharen

love the planter, i would grow strawberrys, cilantro, parsley, all the basil seeds i have, chives ect in the planter your given away

  • Monimocosa

This seems to be the most functional stackable multi planter I have seen. It would be great to plant my cilantro, parsley, basil, rosemary, etc. I woul keep it
Just outside my kitchen door for easy access. Thank you for sharing it with us

  • Monimocosa

I would love to win this for myself because we all want to win sometimes.. I think I will buy one for my father and maybe my mother-in-law.

  • http://twitter.com/Karen_Dotson Karen Dotson

Still lovin’ this planter! Again, I would use this for my kitchen garden herbs! I need, I need! lol! Thanks for all you do!

Brilliant item – I’ve seen these around the Bay Area. Okay – given that we already have a pretty well established herb garden area, I’d set up the stack and grow near that area on the back patio, and would put both grow-and-eat and cut-and-come-again greens and radishes, a split of our little white strawberries and alpine strawberries, since you can’t possibly have too many of those, and basil in that bigger central pot. It’d go near enough the borage and other bee-&-pollinator attractors in the garden that I’m not sure whether I’d also add in some friendly flowers, but She With Whom I Garden likely would come up with something delightful along those lines.
    Thanks for having the giveaway!
